University of South Florida, lemonGRAFT LLC, and local government agencies and organizations in emergency management and food industry will work together to address food security during natural disasters by developing a GIS-based decentralized digital food platform. The platform uses web mapping and geospatial algorithms to identify surged food demand at the neighborhood level and match it with local food growers and suppliers through the sharing-economy business model. This project will help the community of the Tampa Bay Area by providing a robust solution to healthy food access for pre-disaster preparation and mitigation alternative, with a special consideration of socially vulnerable populations.
